Our next race will be at Penn National, this Friday (7/17/15). Don’t forget that Penn has night racing, so we’ll be running around 6:54pm.
I’m kind of excited for this race. Sassy ran a really great time for the mile at Penn in the Lyphard, and we’re eager to see if she can repeat it again in this race going a mile and 70 yds. In the Lyphard her mile time was excellent, but she faded in the final 16th, so we’re hoping she can really shine at this shorter distance.
Friday’s race has a smaller field with just 7 runners (R U Dreaming is the 8th and will only run if the race goes off the turf). We’re expecting an interesting race. There are four horses with some early speed including Sassy, and three closers. There is another Sassy in the race, “A Little Bit Sassy”. I expect this horse to be somewhere near the front as she has won a Grade 3 stake and was second in a Grade 2. This Sassy also wears pink, but not as bright as ours.
Another interesting horse in this race is Littlemissperfect, who has won her last 5 races (1 claiming, 4 starter allowance)! That is quite a streak! Her wins were on dirt, so hopefully her streak will end here on the turf.
We are one of the longest shots in the race, which is strange since we’ve beaten two of the horses before. That will only make betting more exciting for us!
“Our” Sassy will be the #5 horse, coming out of the 4th position since R U Dreaming won’t be running.
