In order to be able to race, Sassy has to get a gate card to prove that she’s willing to go into and come out of the gate. When horses haven’t raced for a while, they are required to show that they are ok with the gate. Maryland doesn’t require the horse to break from the gate, but some of the other places we may race do, so we went with a work from the gate. After coming out of the gate, Sassy worked 3F on the dirt (which is where the gate is). She went in 39.0s.
Sassy and her company galloped around to warm up, and then they came back to the crowded gate area where a bunch of horses were schooling the gate.
Surprisingly, the majority of the horses stood really well waiting their turn.
Now ours are in the gate! Sassy is the horse closest to us.
Walking to cool down.
Then onto the trailer for a 5 minute ride.
Now for a roll in the sand.
And then a bath.
And finally turnout in her field which includes some staring around, running, and then grazing.
Go Sassy!

It’s great to see her looking so good. Good luck to her on her journey this year.
