Sassy ran on 8/11/14 and finished in 8th which was disappointing.

She broke beautifully in first place and then setteled back into third. The pace of the race was slow, but her pace was probably comprable to her last race. She was running well and comfortably.

At the 3/4 pole she was sitting nicely on the rail with a group of 3 horses in front of her as the pace picked up. For some reason, the jockey decided that instead of just waiting for a hole to open up on the rail, he was going to yank Sassy’s head over and drag her out around the three horses to go wide.

It looked to me as though this abrupt manuever put her off her pace and she stopped being competitive as soon as he did it.

We’re all disappointed as we felt that we would have been in the money had the jockey not decided on this course of action. We’ll hope for better luck and better riding next time.
