Work on 4/19/2014

Sassy had a nice work today.  She went 3F in 36.6s, and then galloped out 4 more furlongs.

We are planning to enter her in an Allowance race this coming Thursday, so let’s hope she gets in and that the rain holds off!

For those of you who never get to see her workouts, here is a play by play.  First, she is saddled and she stands tied to the wall waiting her turn to get ridden.  It isn’t a long wait, maybe 20-30 minutes.  In her new stall you can see that she can sniff noses and talk to the horse across from her.

Now the rider is up and getting his instructions and arranging his tack.  Sassy had her coat clipped, which is why her color looks so much lighter than normal.  She’ll grow in a normal dark brown summer coat.

Sassy walks nicely out to the track with the rest of the Trombetta horses, through the tunnel and onto the Tapeta track.

Once on the track, the rider lets the others go ahead and Sassy goes out to work alone.  She starts out trotting, and she trots once around, which is a little less than a mile.  Then she moves on to an easy gallop.

After she passes us near the finish line, she gallops another easy 4F before she settles into her work.  Just before the 3/8th pole, she picks up a working gallop.  After she works 3/8, she gallops out an additional 4F before she stops, turns around, and comes back off the track.

Video of the work. Randy is a great videographer, but the tripod was not cooperating and the video jumps a bit.
